How do you give a bakery oven specialist a shop window online?

Overview

Professional ovens for bakeries.

Four à Pain Européen sells ovens to professional bakers: wood-fired ovens, rotary ovens and electric ovens. The company has more than seven years of experience in this specialist market. A professional oven is a rare purchase, a significant commitment and one that is compared at length. The website had to support a decision that is made over several weeks.

Context & challenges

Real technical know-how with no shop window online.

The company had no website. Yet a professional oven is not something you drop into a basket: it is a major investment for a bakery, chosen after comparison, discussion and sometimes a visit. So the website's role is not to close the sale, but to make the shortlist.

If it does not answer the buyer's technical questions, it is eliminated before the first contact. And a baker immediately recognises a website that does not know their trade. So we had to create a website that speaks to bakers:

  • Ranges to tell apart: wood-fired, rotary or electric, each one meets a different need.
  • The vocabulary of the trade: a baker immediately recognises a website that does not know their trade.
  • Direct contact: the sale happens through conversation, and the website has to lead to it.
Our role

A website built entirely from scratch.

We built the entire website, from the site structure to launch. It is organised around the product: each range has its own page, with what really drives the purchase, such as capacity, dimensions, use and installation constraints.

The copy uses the vocabulary of professionals in the sector. A gallery completes the set-up: with this type of equipment, seeing ovens installed and in operation says more than another technical data sheet, and shows both the real footprint of the ovens and how they look once in place.

  • Complete build: from the site structure to launch.
  • One page per range: each family of ovens presented on its own page.
  • Copywriting: using the vocabulary of professionals in the sector.
  • Gallery: real installations that show the footprint and the finished look.
  • Development: WordPress and Elementor, complemented by custom HTML and CSS.

Approach & methodology

Introduce the company, then the ovens.

The home page introduces the company before showing the ovens. In a specialist market, experience and advice are part of the selection criteria: buyers want to know who they are entrusting an investment of this size to before comparing models.

For a purchase of this amount, human conversation remains the decisive step. The website does not try to replace it: it provides the information buyers would otherwise call to ask for, so that the conversation starts further along. The home page follows this order:

  1. Announce: “The Future of Baking Starts with our Wood-Fired Ovens”, with direct access to what follows.
  2. Introduce the company: wide selection, expert advice, quality and durability.
  3. Show the ranges: rotary oven, wood-fired oven, electric oven, then the products.
  4. Answer: sales areas, advice articles and frequently asked questions.
Solutions & art direction

Ovens showcased as products.

The ovens are presented as products, each with its photo, its description and a link to its page. The ranges are separated from the home page onwards, so that a baker who knows what they are looking for gets there directly. Each card then leads to the detailed page for the range.

The sales area map shows the countries where the products are available. The advice articles and the frequently asked questions, presented as an accordion, answer the questions that come up before a purchase, to clear up doubts before getting in touch.

  • Range cards: each oven with its photo, its description and its link.
  • Sales area map: the countries where the products are available.
  • Blog: advice articles for bakers.
  • Frequently asked questions: as an accordion, to clear up doubts before getting in touch.

Conclusion

A website that speaks the bakers' language.

Four à Pain Européen now has a shop window that presents its ranges and leads to contact. Professional buyers find the information they are looking for without having to call to get it, and the conversation with the company can start on an already precise footing.

For its founder, the result “shows off our ranges of ovens well”. He also highlights a point of method: “Yanis understood our trade before getting started, and that changes everything.” An observation that matches the project's approach: speaking to bakers in their own words.

“

Widesign built the website for our professional bakery equipment company. Really careful work, attentive, deadlines met, and a result that shows off our ranges of ovens well. Yanis understood our trade before getting started, and that changes everything. I recommend them.

We can hear you from here.

What you might be thinking

Too expensive compared with what? A website that does not convert costs you lost quotes every month. Hours spent re-entering data, chasing and searching for a file cost just as much, without ever showing up on an invoice. Our prices are stated before we start, and you can judge the work before committing: a trial mock-up at €390 for a website, a scoping session at €490 for software, both deducted from the project. We do not start anything until that calculation seems obvious to you.

The right time is before you are overwhelmed, not during. A website is delivered in 14 days. For software, the timeline is fixed in writing at the scoping session. In both cases, we take on most of the work. And if you are going through a busy period, we plan the start date with you rather than rushing you.

If your website brings you regular enquiries and your tools keep up, keep them. If your team juggles spreadsheets, emails and paperwork, or if you no longer dare to show your website, it is quietly costing you. The first call is there to tell you honestly whether it is better to keep, improve or rebuild. Sometimes we advise a simple touch-up rather than a full project.

At first, yes. After that, you pay a per-user subscription that rises as your team grows, for a tool that imposes its own way of working and of which you only use a part. Custom software does what you need, nothing more, and it belongs to you. It is the same reasoning as with business premises: renting costs less in the first month, rarely over ten years.

That is why everything is written down before we start: what we deliver, at what price, by when. A single point of contact, steps approved one by one and 30 days of iterations included. Nothing is coded before you approve it. You keep every project document, and nothing important is decided verbally.

We need a scoping call, a few approvals and your content. For software, we start from the way you work today: you show it to us, we turn it into a tool. You decide, we build. In practice, most of your time goes into the scoping session, and the approvals after that are short.

You approve the mock-ups before any development, and you get 30 days of iterations included from the date the quote is signed. We keep reworking until you approve, within the scope agreed together, with no charge for revisions. And if the art direction does not suit you, we rework it before writing a single line of code.

No. Your website and your software belong to you, code and data included. You are trained to use them, and another professional can take over if you decide to. Access details, hosting and documentation are handed over to you on delivery, with nothing held back.

You choose. We can handle everything, hosting, backups and updates, or hand you the keys so that your usual provider can take care of it. Either way, access is in your name from day one, and you can change your mind along the way.

That is planned for. Custom software can be changed: we add a step, a field, a role, without rebuilding everything. Each change is priced separately and you decide whether it is worth the cost. That is the difference with an off-the-shelf tool, where you wait for the vendor to have the same idea as you.

Often, yes. We start by looking at what exists: what holds up, what is worth keeping, what costs more to fix than to rebuild. That is exactly what the scoping session is for, and sometimes it concludes that there is not much to throw away.
