The discovery call

We map your process, the files and tools you juggle between, and where they get stuck, in thirty minutes with no commitment. If off-the-shelf software is enough, we tell you.

Step 02

The functional scoping session

User roles, screens, business rules, integrations: the full scope of the first version is written down, then costed. You know the application that will be delivered before you sign.

Step 03

Screen mock-ups

Dashboard, records, forms: each screen is mocked up and shown to the people who will use it. Coding only starts once you have approved these mock-ups.

Step 04

Development in batches

We build the application module by module, on a sound technical foundation. You test each batch in a staging environment and approve it before the next one.

Step 05

Going into production

We bring over your existing data, put the application into production and test it with you. Your teams are trained, role by role, in using it day to day.

Step 06

Follow-up and updates

Your process changes, and so does the application. We handle maintenance, fix what needs fixing and add the features for the next version when you decide on them.

The scoping session sets the scope and the timetable: we develop in short, demonstrable stages, for a useful first version quickly, and a fixed price from the start.

If existing software covers your needs, it will often be cheaper, and we will tell you during scoping. Custom software is justified when you spend your time working around the tool, duplicating entries in spreadsheets, or when the way you work is what sets you apart.

In most cases, yes, if your tools offer an API or a usable export: accounting, CRM, calendar, email. We check this during scoping, tool by tool, before promising you a connection.

That is the main risk with in-house software, more than the technical side. The screens are designed with the people who will use them, tested as mock-ups before development, and the first version is deliberately kept simple so it becomes part of daily habits before it grows.

The application is designed for that: documented code, structured so screens or rules can be added without starting over. Each change is costed separately before it starts, and you remain free to give it to us or to another team.
